    ARGENTINA
    BODEGAS CARO
Bodegas CARO is a partnership between Nicolas Catena Zapata and Domaine Barons de Rothschild-Lafite which started in 1999, with its own winery located in Godoy Cruz, Mendoza, near the city. They have a separate winery, with an independent oenologist, and aim at blending French and Argentine traditions and grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, from their 65 hectares of vineyards in high altitude zones.

36 75cl 'CARO'
Mendoza
Bodegas CARO

Wine Spectator -
Compact, featuring concentrated cassis, wild berry, spice box and aromatic tobacco notes wound with full yet fine tannins. Full-bodied and complex, delivering a long aftertaste of fruit and sweet spice.
2010 £29.00 WS92
2014-22

    CLOS DE LOS SIETE
A very well made Argentinean wine, made with the assistance of the famed French wine consultant Michel Rolland.

64 75cl CLOS DE LOS SIETE

RP -
There may be no finer red wine value in Argentina than this superb blend of 48% Malbec, 28% Merlot, 12% Syrah, and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged for 11 months, two-thirds in 100% new French oak and the balance in vat and bottled without fining or filtration. Opaque purple-coloured, the wine coats the glass while offering up a superb bouquet of toasty oak, violets, mineral, black currant, blueberry, and black cherry. This is followed by a layered wine with gobs of ripe fruit, a plush texture, outstanding balance, and several years of aging potential.
2007 £16.00 A very good wine; great with red meat, steaks and barbecues.

    BODEGAS CATENA ZAPATA
Clearly one of the best estates in Argentina; The Catena Zapata portfolio is stunning from entry-level to top-of-the-line - Highly Recommended.

20 75cl MALBEC Argentino Vineyard
Nicolas Catena Zapata

RP-
The 2007 Argentino Malbec is a blend of the Nicasia and Adrianna cuvees. Since I have been tasting the Catena wines, this has generally been my preference because it seems to have an extra dimension of complexity. So it is with the 2007 vintage.
2007 £42.00 RP97
2011-28

    CHILE
    ALMAVIVA
A TOP Chilean wine;
Generally considered one of the best wines from Chile!

Almaviva is a partnership of Bordeaux first-growth Chateau Mouton-Rothschild and Concha y Toro.
Made in the style of top of the line Pauillac, the blend is typically 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22-23% Carmenere (a very close relative of Merlot), and 4-5% Cabernet Franc. It spends 18 months in new French oak and is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

3 75cl CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Almaviva

RP-
The 2004 Almaviva is styled similar to the 2005. The multi-faceted aromatics deliver vanilla, clove, floral notes, red and black currants, and a hint of chocolate. It is a bit more forward than the 2005 with excellent focus and delineation. Give this elegant yet concentrated wine 3-5 years in the cellar and drink it through 2030.
2004 £89.00 RP93

    CONCHA y TORO
An excellent Chilean estate:
Viña Concha y Toro was founded in 1883 by Don Melchor de Concha y Toro and his wife Doña Emiliana Subercaseaux. They planted their first vineyard of Bordeaux varieties in the Maipo Valley, attracted by the region’s advantageous position between the Andes and the Pacific Ocean.
Don Melchor is the flagship wine of Concha y Toro, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon cuvee that was started in 1987, making it Chile’s senior icon.
43 75cl 'DON MELCHOR'
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Concha y Toro

RP- The 2006 Don Melchor Cabernet Sauvignon is a glass-coating opaque purple with an alluring bouquet of toast, tobacco, cedar, leather, mocha, and blackcurrant. Sweet, voluptuous (but not in a fruit bomb kind of way), layered, and complex already, its superb balance will ensure at least a decade of evolution and it should drink well through 2036.
2006 £48.00 RP95
2009-36
32 75cl 'DON MELCHOR'
CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Concha y Toro

RP- The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is opaque purple-coloured with aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, scorched earth, black currant, and blackberry liqueur. This is followed by an opulent, very intense, complex Cabernet with gobs of savoury fruit, exceptional depth, and enough structure to evolve for 6-8 years. This lengthy, classy effort will be at its best from 2015 to 2035.
2005 £52.00 RP94
2010-35
55 75cl 'TERRUNYO'
CARMENERE
Concha y Toro

RP- When Carmenere is bad, it’s very, very bad. But when it’s good? it’s sublime as Terrunyo, a winery under the Concha y Toro umbrella, has demonstrated on several occasions. The 2005 Carmenere is opaque purple in colour with a kinky perfume of smoky oak, violets, spice box, blueberry preserves, and blackberry liqueur. This leads to a silky textured wine with remarkable richness, concentration, and depth. This opulent effort conceals enough structure to evolve for 3-5 years but can be enjoyed now as well as over the next 10-15 years.
2005 £29.00 RP93
2008-23

    ERRAZURIZ
Another leading Chilean estate:
Errazuriz has been making impressive strides under the inspired leadership of Eduardo Chadwick.
He has gathered a superb team of viticultural and winemaking talent for Errazuriz as well as his luxury wines, Sena and Vinedo Chadwick.

11 75cl 'DON MAXIMIANO'
FOUNDERS RESERVE
Errazuriz

RP-
The 2006 Founder's Reserve Don Maximiano is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, and Syrah. It spent 18 months in mostly new French oak. Aromas of pain grille, pencil lead, Asian spices, incense, and blackcurrant are reminiscent of a classified growth Pauillac.
Medium- to full-bodied in the mouth, the wine has a plush texture, plenty of ripe tannin, layers of spicy fruit, and outstanding concentration.
This impeccably balanced wine will benefit from 5-7 years of additional cellaring and have a prime drinking window extending from 2015 to 2031.
2006 £45.00 RP94
2015-31
