     Chateau Beaucastel
excellent estate, making Top CNDP using organic methods - a real favourite with wine enthusiasts.
Highly Recommended!
112 75cl Coudoulet Rouge de
Chateau Beaucastel
Cotes du Rhone Rouge

RP -
The 2012 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet de Beaucastel looks to be an outstanding example of this cuvee. Showing plenty of black cherry, mineral, cracked pepper and underbrush, it is medium-bodied, possesses great acidity, and gains in both richness and depth in the glass. While most Cotes du Rhône's drink best in their first 4-5 years of life, this cuvee can age well past a decade.
2012 £16.00 RP92
11 75cl Coudoulet Rouge de
Chateau Beaucastel
Cotes du Rhone Rouge

RP -
The real steal, however, is the 2010 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet red, which has really put on some weight and intensity since I tasted it last year. The wine displays oodles of licorice, black currant and black cherry liqueur with hints of damp forest floor and truffle. Sweet tannin, decent acidity and nice, attractive density make for an outstanding Cotes du Rhone to drink over the next 7-8 years.
2010 £18.00 RP90

108 75cl Coudoulet Rouge de
Chateau Beaucastel
Cotes du Rhone Rouge

RP -
In total contrast, the 2009 Cotes du Rhone Coudoulet red represents the essence of Provence in its notes of ground pepper, new saddle leather, lavender, kirsch, garrigue, and abundant red and black fruits. This complex, evolved, luscious red begs for a bloody grilled steak. With a creamy, medium to full-bodied texture, this gorgeous, complex, evolved wine should be enjoyed over the next 7-8 years.
2009 £19.00 RP90
     Chateau Pesquie
RP - Easily one of my favourite estates from the up-and-coming Ventoux region, Chateau Pesquie is run by the talented brothers, Alexandre & Frederic Chaudiere. The wines sell for a song, yet always deliver high-quality, loads of character and impeccably made profiles.
51 75cl Cuvee des Terrasses
Chateau Pesquie
Cotes du Ventoux Rouge

RP -
In the same mould and an awesome value year in and year out, the 2012 Cotes du Ventoux Cuvee des Terrasses is a blend of 70% Grenache (60-year-old vines) and 30% Syrah (30+-year-old vines) that was aged two-thirds in concrete (and some in stainless steel) and one-third in older oak.
Made from a blend of different terroirs on the estate and coming from hillside vineyards lying between 840-930 feet in elevation, it offers up a gorgeously pure, supple and seamless profile with kirsch and berry-styled fruit, licorice and spring flower-like qualities all emerging from the glass.
Elegant, forward and delicious, it gains in stature in the glass, is ridiculously textured from such an inexpensive wine, and has sweet tannin emerging on the finish.
2012 £14.00 RP92

Great Value - Highly Recommended

A top CNDP grower, with 10 acres in Vacqueyras - the latter are great value wines!
81 75cl Vacqueyras
Domaine de la Charbonniere

RP - The 2010 Vacqueyras offers lots of cedary, loamy soil notes interwoven with black cherry jam and black currants. Medium to full-bodied with supple tannins and admirable purity as well as intensity, it should drink well for a decade.

2010 £18.00 RP91
21 75cl Vacqueyras
Domaine de la Charbonniere

RP - The 2009 Vacqueyras, a blend of mostly Grenache with some Syrah, boasts a dense purple color along with a beautiful bouquet of black raspberries, blueberry pie, camphor and white flowers. Rich, pure, medium to full-bodied and velvety textured.

2009 £18.00 RP91
RP -
In just over a decade, this family-owned estate has become not only a top producer in the southern Rhone, but also a reference point for what’s possible in the picturesque and touristy hilltop village of Seguret.
12 75cl Cotes du Rhone-Village 'Seguret Grande Reserve'
Domaine de Mourchon

RP - The 2010 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Seguret Grande Reserve is sensational. A two-grape blend of two-thirds Grenache and the rest Syrah, with the Grenache aged in tank and the Syrah in small barrels, it has terrific freshness, delineation and purity. It is full-bodied, black/purple in color, with stunning richness and intensity.

2010 £17.00 RP93
DOMAINE de Bila Haut de Roussillon
Michel Chapoutier

92 75cl Haut Cotes de Roussillon Villages Latour de France
M. Chapoutier

RP - A step up and an incredible effort, the 2013 Cotes du Roussillon Villages Latour de France Occultum Lapidem is made from a mix of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan that comes from schist and chalky soils. A serious, classically styled effort, it offers awesome aromas and flavours (blackberry, mineral and liquorice), full-bodied richness and fabulous concentration that never comes across as heavy or cumbersome. Showing additional minerality and definition with time in the glass, this beauty will have 10-15 years of longevity and should not be missed.

2013 £17.00 RP97

Great Value and Quality!

86 75cl Haut Cotes de Roussillon Villages Latour de France
M. Chapoutier

RP - Ripe, tart-edged and pit-inflected cherry and black raspberry with the crunch of its seed are prominent in the juicy and invigorating performance of this finely-grained cuvee, with pleasantly bitter hints of red chard and nibbles of black pepper adding to the stimulation of a long finish that seems stone-lined and teetering on the edge of dark mystery. The paradoxical sense of brightness and sinister depth of flavour here reminds me of certain fine red Burgundies, and with alcohol of only 14% this is certainly not in the least heavy-laden let alone hot or harsh. I suspect there will be yet more for which to praise it in a few years and that it will prove worth following through 2025.

2012 £15.00 RP91

Great Value and Quality!

19 75cl Haut Cotes de Roussillon Villages Latour de France
M. Chapoutier

RP - Although these wines are normally reviewed by my colleagues David Schildknect in his Languedoc-Roussillon and Alsace reports and Lisa Perrotti-Brown in her reviews of Australian wines,
I tasted them during my visit with Chapoutier, so I will include them in this report as they are of high quality and merit attention. I will just list the wines, my score, and the region from which they emerge.

2011 £17.00 RP96

Great Value and Quality!
