SPARKLING WINES from the LOIRE
Made by the Traditional Champagne Method (Méthode
Traditionnelle).
In
the heart of the Loire Valley; the House Louis de Grenelle makes
excellent sparkling wines.
Created in 1859, it remains the last family owned house. |
|
|
These Saumur
sparkling wines are an ideal substitute for NV Champagne at much lower
prices, and their quality leaves nothing to be desired - please try a
bottle! |

Cremant de Loire is generally more full
bodied, with stronger minerality than the Saumur Blanc sparklers.
The "L de Grenelle" is just right with fish and white meats. |

CHATEAU de FESLES
This is a really Top Estate; according to the American Wine Guru Robert Parker, the Bonnezeaux from this domaine deserves to be in a category of its own.
Probably the best sweet wine from the Loire! |
|
|
Bonnezeaux from Ch. de Fesles is:
Made with 100% Botrytised Chenin Blanc grapes, which are hand
picked in 5-7 pickings. Fermented in oak casks for 1-2 months,
then stored a further 10-15 months in oak barrels before
release. |

DOMAINE
OLGA RAFFAULT, SAVIGNY-en-VERON
This is a top domaine that
has been making very pure Chinon wines for 4 generations;
in fact Olga Raffault was the first female vigneron in France!.
The white wine is made in very small quantities, so is usually
in demand - it will keep for 10-12 years. |
|
|
We import these wines direct from the
Domaine and have UK exclusivity. |

DOMAINE
DES ROCHES NEUVES
This is
a top biodynamic domaine run by Thierry Germain - of the Chateau
des Fesles, Bernard Germain family.
The white is extremely elegant with good minerality, and a full
round fruit taste. This wine is great by itself or with white
meats and fish. |
|
|
These wines are very
popular in France; so are very difficult to obtain for export to
the UK. The
Revue du Vin de France (issue 513), considers this one of
the best domaine's in the Loire.
No wonder they are sought after, especially as they are
constantly sold-out as only small quantities are made.

L'INSOLITE
Wine Spectator:
Very
pretty, with notes of ginger powder, apple and cardamom. Shows
burgundy-like butter and mineral hints on the finish, which is
long and creamy. Really opens nicely in the glass
This is a TOP vintage which can be drunk now or kept up
to 10-15years. |
