    DOMINIQUE LAURENT
A top winemaker; making complex, elegant and long lasting wines. For those who like their burgundies to be a memorable experience!
His village wines are particularly good value; as they mainly come from old vines and are very well made.

35 75cl Beaune

CC - Very good colour. Lush, succulent and voluptuous on the nose.
Gently oaky. Slightly rigid at first on the palate. But the follow-through is better.
Good grip. Plenty of depth and intensity.
Very Good Indeed.

33 75cl Chambolle Musigny
Vieilles Vignes
Dominique Laurent

- Medium red. Red fruits, minerals and spices on the nose. Juicy, floral and penetrating, if a bit reduced. Densely packed but has good Chambolle tang and energy, with the smoky oak sweetening but not overwhelming the fruit. Intensely flavoured, firm and long, with good clarity on the aftertaste.

    DOMAINE
J-F MUGNIER
A really fine domaine, making elegant and finely structured wines, which are very true to their terroir.

75cl
Nuits St. George
'Clos de la Maréchale'
1er Cru
J-F Mugnier

AM -
An earthy and moderately sauvage nose of dark berry fruit, underbrush and a hint of stone that is picked up by the rich, sweet and intense yet stylish medium full flavours that are unusually pure for a typical Nuits while wrapped in a finish supported by quite firm, dusty and mouth coating tannins. This possesses really fine depth and the firm structure is sufficiently buried that the finish appears less structured than it really is.

Nuits St. George
'Clos de la Maréchale'
1er Cru
J-F Mugnier

AM -
In contrast to the expressiveness of the first two '05s, here there is a completely different aromatic profile and one that is brooding with more deeply pitched and quite ripe blue and violet aromas combining with pungent earth and game hints that continue onto the sweet, rich and sappy flavours wrapped around a firm tannic spine. This is impressive as it is clearly Nuits in character yet with refined and sophisticated structural elements.

Nuits St. George
'Clos de la Maréchale'
1er Cru
J-F Mugnier

AM -
This is more elegant and complex aromatically and slightly finer with detailed, expressive and pure aromas of earth, black fruit and plum that dissolve into beautifully complex, refined and balanced flavours that also display ample finishing minerality and better overall phenolic ripeness. A really lovely effort that should age effortlessly.

    DOMAINE
POUSSE d'Or
Purchased by Patrick Landanger in 1997, this domaine has subsequently be going from strength to strength!
He calls 2005 a "great vintage in the grand classic style of the finest burgundies" and says it is the best year since he purchased the property.

10 75cl Corton Clos du Roi
Grand Cru
Pousse d'Or

AM -
In contrast to the relatively open nose of the Bressandes, the Clos du Roi is brooding, reserved and sombre, though the most black and dark berry fruit aromas are ripe and spicy and this spice character continues onto the rich, power and robust flavours that are supported by a balanced core of sap and an extremely firm but not hard core of tannins.
This is a big wine yet it remains relatively refined and is clearly built for the long haul.
